If this is your first time preparing to attend a Dystopia Rising event we invite you to get to know us a bit by joining us on Discord. We can answer questions directly, and you will be able to talk to other players. Join our Discord by clicking here.

We encourage you to build your character for play before showing up to your first event. However, that is not required. We can help you create the character on our Discord server or at the event. Creating a character in advance will help you learn a bit about the game before you attend and help you make costuming choices.

The Dystopia Rising Live website has all of the books and more information about the game world. Here is a direct link to the New Player Quick Guide. We suggest you start there before diving in to all of the world and setting material. If any of this feels a bit intimidating, just reach out to us on our socials or on Discord and we can talk you through everything directly.

When you make it to our site, you will want to find our Check-In area, find a bunk, and then get ready for Opening Announcements Friday at 9:00 PM, New Player Orientation at 9:15 PM and Game-On at 10 PM.

Even if you are an experienced gamer we suggest you attend Opening Announcements and New Player Orientation.  This is a great opportunity to get to know new people and organize.  We are a community-based game, and we want you to be a part of our community.  

We will provide starter gear if this is your first event.  This means you'll be able to get right into the action of surviving and fighting in the wastes.

Every player can rewrite their entire character sheet before their third event.  Take a chance and play something fun.  If you don't like it you can change it.

Players should come prepared for a weekend surviving in the post-apocalyptic future.  Bring plenty of food, hydration, bedding, and a contact safe weapon; if you are unable to bring a contact-safe weapon, we can loan you a melee weapon for the event. We also have some shields available for players who are planning on using them. A simple, plain black outfit for your NPC shift is also preferred.
